Meet the Artist
Hey y’all! My name is ALaSonna, but my family calls me A, and you can too.
I’m a 25-year-old, self-taught artist, born and raised in Union City, TN, and now living in Martin, TN. My in-home studio is more than just a creative space—it’s a sanctuary where I worship God through the gifts and talents He’s given me. In 2022, I had a dream where a woman showed me a room filled with my art, writings, and creations. At the time, I didn’t realize God was planting a vision in my heart, but now I’m here, living it out one brushstroke, sketch, and piece of art at a time.
Growing up, I thought my creativity came from my stepdad, who I believed was my real dad. He would send me jail art, and I assumed he was the one painting it. Naturally, I thought, “Well, that must be where I get it from.”
Later, I learned my biological dad is also an artist, with work ranging from airbrushing and murals to acrylic paintings and sketches. That connection helped me understand more about the talent God placed in me, but I’ve always known it was God who gave me the desire, vision, and boldness to create in the first place.
As a kid, I was always carving images into the wood of my bunk bed, painting pictures on my closet walls, and making gifts for my mom every holiday—not realizing God was shaping something bigger inside me.
Today, I create bold, vibrant pieces full of life and color—art that reflects faith, joy, and the beauty of being exactly who God created me to be.
So, join me on this journey as we continue to unveil the woman I am becoming, as an artist and all the future titles I’ll hold one day.
This is one slice of my lifetime cake, with many more tiers to go.
See you at the top.
A.

" I’m in awe of my gifts as an artist because, to me, this is the closest I’ll ever get to experiencing the beauty of how God formed us. To take a thought and bring it into form, to breathe life into an empty space, and to enjoy the fruits of that labor—it’s a reminder that we are all created in His image, each of us unique and filled with purpose."
